Privacy Policy
Short version: Nomad Ready does not collect, store, sell, or share your personal data. Everything you enter stays on your device. We have no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.
Data stored on your device
Your inventory, checklists, household size, map pins, saved locations, reading progress, game progress, downloaded maps, books, and audiobooks are stored only on your device. We never receive them. Deleting the app deletes this data. If you create a backup or export (CSV or JSON), it is saved wherever you choose. We don't receive a copy.
Location
If you allow it, Nomad Ready uses your location while the app is in use to:
- request weather alerts and forecasts for your area,
- show your position on the map, and
- save pins and choose an area for downloading topographic maps.
Your location is not sent to us. To fetch alerts, the app sends your approximate coordinates to the U.S. National Weather Service, as described below. You can deny location access and type coordinates in by hand instead.
Services the app connects to
Nomad Ready works offline. When you're online, it connects directly from your device to these services, only for the features you use:
| Service | What is sent | Why |
|---|---|---|
| U.S. National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) | Coordinates of your alert location | Weather and emergency alerts and forecasts |
| AWS Terrain Tiles (Amazon S3) | Map tile numbers for the area being viewed or downloaded | Elevation data for topographic maps |
| Internet Archive (archive.org) | Audiobook search terms and the files you download | Free public-domain audiobooks |
| Your own Project NOMAD server (on your local network) | Your questions, and your inventory if you choose to sync it | Offline maps, local AI, and backup on hardware you control |
These services receive standard network information such as your IP address, under their own privacy policies. Links you tap, such as shopping or movie links, open in your browser or Maps app and are covered by those sites' policies.
Notifications
Severe-weather and emergency notifications are generated on your device from the alerts it downloads. We don't operate a push notification server and don't receive a device token.
Children
Nomad Ready does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
